§ Mr. Nicholas BennettOpen heart surgery in the NHS in Wales is provided by South Glamorgan health authority. Reflecting the central funding of the authority to provide the service, information on the number of operations carried out has been routinely collected by the Welsh Office since 1984, supplementary to the hospital activity analysis data provided by district health authorities.
