§ Mr. Garel-JonesMy right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs attended an informal meeting of EC Foreign Ministers in Luxembourg on 26 March. In a useful discussion of European security and defence my right hon. Friend set out our view that we need to develop the European defence identity by strengthening the WEU with links to both the alliance and the Twelve. They also discussed the situation in Yugoslavia, and issued a statement calling for a peaceful and democratic resolution to that country's constitutional crisis.
