HC Deb 28 March 1991 vol 188 c499W
Mr. Cox

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will list the support given by the Cyprus Government, including their approval for the use of facilities on the island of Cyprus during the Gulf war.

Mr. Garel-Jones

The Cyprus Government offered to make hospital beds available for Gulf war casualties though in the event they were not needed. The Cyprus Government also gave their firm support to the United Nations Security Council resolutons.

As sovereign British territory, the use of the sovereign base areas (SBA) within the terms of the treaty of establishment is a matter for Her Majesty's Government.
