HC Deb 28 March 1991 vol 188 cc501-2W
Dr. Goodson-Wickes

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what progress is being made in implementing the Foreign Compensation (People's Republic of China) (Distribution) Order 1987.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

The Foreign Compensation Commission, which has been assisted in the performance of administrative tasks by the accountants, Ernst and Young, will on 2 April 1991 begin making payments from the China fund amounting to approximately £25 million, representing 62.25 per cent. of the value assigned to claims, to successful claimants against the fund. These disbursements will exhaust the balance in the fund.
