HL Deb 25 March 1991 vol 527 cc51-2WA
Lord Kilmarnock

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether the Clinical Standards Advisory Group for the National Health Service has been appointed, and if so:

  1. (a) who are its members;
  2. (b) what are its terms of reference;
  1. (c) who will be able to propose subjects for investigation to the group;
  2. (d) what is the procedure for (c) above; and
  3. (e)if any of these matters is still undecided, on what date it is envisaged that the group will be fully functional.

Baroness Hooper:

Section 62 of the NHS and Community Care Act 1990 sets out the functions of the Clinical Standards Advisory Group. Regulations making provision for the appointment of the chairman and members and procedures for the advisory group were laid before Parliament on 11th March. The group's programme of work will be determined by the health Ministers after taking account of the views of the group. An announcement on the appointment of the chairman and members will be made very soon.
