HC Deb 25 March 1991 vol 188 c276W
Mr. Flynn

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make it his policy to collate information on the percentage of gross domestic product spent on arms by countries which are recipients of aid from the United Kingdom.

Mrs. Chalker

As I indicated in my reply to my hon. Friend the Member for Swindon (Mr. Coombs) on 13 March at column517 we consider that there is room for improvement in such data, which are also included by the World bank in its "World Development Report" published annually. Such information is best collected on an international basis, and we are exploring how best this might be done.
