HC Deb 19 March 1991 vol 188 c99W
Mr. Gill

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will make a statement on progress on the implementation of harmonised meat inspection charges in other European Community member states.

Mr. Maclean

No. This question is properly the concern of the other European Community member states and of the European Commission.

Mr. Gill

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what guidance he intends to give to local authorities about implementation of the new meat inspection charges.

Mr. Maclean

Guidance on the implementation of the new meat inspection charges has already been given to local authorities in the form of a circular, FSH 3/90, issued in December. I am arranging for a copy of this circular to be placed in the Library of the House.

We will also be issuing shortly to local authority associations and the main trade associations a brief guide to the appeals procedure provided for in the regulations.
