HC Deb 18 March 1991 vol 188 c42W
Mr. Sillars

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will introduce legislation making it unlawful for a person who buys a council house to subsequently sell that house, retain the profit, then take a new tenancy of a local authority house.

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

We do not believe that the type of case referred to arises on a significant scale and we have no plans to amend the legislation governing either the right to buy or the allocation of council houses.

Dr. Godman

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many households were registered on the local authority housing waiting lists in(a) Inverclyde district council, (b) Renfrew district council, (c) Strathclyde and (d) Scotland as a whole at the latest date for which figures are available.
