HC Deb 18 March 1991 vol 188 c42W
Mr. Ron Davies

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will outline the procedure for registration of a fox destruction society with his Department; and through which agency moneys allocated to such societies are disbursed.

Mr. Michael Forsyth

To qualify for registration a fox destruction society must satisfy the Scottish Office Agriculture and Fisheries Department that there is a need for systematic control of foxes within a clearly defined area and that the society will undertake this control in a responsible manner. Payment of 50 per cent. of the approved expenditure of the society is made by the Department following scrutiny of audited accounts.
