HC Deb 14 March 1991 vol 187 c653W
Mr. Corbyn

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is the policy of Her Majesty's Government towards the entry of Iraqi nationals to the United Kingdom.

Mr. Peter Lloyd

[holding answer 12 March 1991]: the "Statement of Changes in Immigration Rules" laid before Parliament on 18 January—HC 160—an application for entry falls to be refused if the applicant is an Iraqi national. However, discretion is exercised in compassionate circumstances where we are satisfied that no threat to national security is involved.
