HL Deb 12 March 1991 vol 527 c5WA
Lord Hylton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Why they have detained since September last Mr. Tshimanga Kafe (No. VX 0960) and Mr. Bakoti Enyuka in Pentonville Prison, and Mr. Alems Bobo Futu in Harmondsworth Detention Centre, given that they are asylum seekers from Zaire; whether there are medical and compassionate grounds for releasing them; and how much longer they expect to take investigating these cases.

The Minister of State, Home Office (Earl Ferrers):

Mr. Kafe, Mr. Enyuka and Mr. Futu were detained initially because the Immigration Service, having considered all the circumstances, were not satisfied that they would comply with the terms of any temporary admission granted. That remains the position. Their detention is under regular review, but it is not possible to say how long investigations will take.
