§ Mr. Lennox-BoydUntil they were withdrawn on 12 January, members of the British embassy in Baghdad were in regular contact with the Iraqi authorities and took many opportunities to raise our concerns with them about human rights violations in Iraq, including in relation to the Kurds. They also discussed trade between the United Kingdom and Iraq and our concern about Iraq's alleged attempts to acquire arms illegally in the United Kingdom.
