To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry whether he will direct the Post Office to act in accordance with best practice in the matter of relocating displaced Post Office staff in Quadrant.

Mr. Leigh

The reorganisation of Quadrant is an operational matter for Post Office management and it would not therefore be appropriate for me to comment on the relocation of staff.

Mr. Dalyell

To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will meet the chairman of the Post Office to discuss the changes which took place among senior Post Office Quadrant staff in 1990 and the reasons for departures of staff.

Mr. Leigh

Matters of appointment and termination of employment of Post Office staff are a matter for the Post Office and its employees.
