§ Mrs. Virginia BottomleyThe number of persons aged 65 or over in each of the years 1979–89, together with the numbers of places in local authority, voluntary and private residential accommodation catering primarily for elderly people are set out in the following table. The table also shows the number of independent sector nursing beds for elderly patients for the years 1982–89.
