§ Mr. Kenneth BakerThe Merseyside police authority made an application for 49 additional police posts in 1991–92. On the advice of Her Majesty's chief inspector of constabulary, I have approved five extra police posts from 1 October 1991.
§ 19. Mr. AltonTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what will be the implications of the 1991–92 Merseyside police authority budget settlement on the police establishment.
§ Mr. Kenneth BakerThe establishment of the Merseyside police, as I authorised, will not be affected by the police authority's budget settlement. It is for the authority to decide how many posts in the establishment should be filled.
