HC Deb 07 March 1991 vol 187 c239W
Miss Hoey

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) whether new hostel deficit grant approvals will be issued after 1 April in respect of any eligible schemes in respect of hostel deficit grant receiving project approval before that date but not having been processed due to Housing Corporation delays; and whether he will keep the situation under review and issue a further progress report in March;

(2) what is the current backlog of schemes awaiting budget approval from the Housing Corporation in respect of hostel deficit grant; and when the backlog will be cleared;

(3) what monthly target the Housing Corporation would need to meet to eliminate the backlog of schemes awaiting budget approval in respect of hostel deficit grant by the due date; what performance is currently being maintained against this target; and how many schemes have been approved and how many rejected in each of the last three calendar months.

Mr. Yeo

The Housing Corporation does not have a backlog of new projects awaiting HDG budget approval and it will be able to give in principle budget approval, as appropriate, for all schemes which receive project approval during 1990–91.

In the last three months the corporation has dealt with the following new HDG budget applications:

Month Approved Rejected
December 14 11
January 20 17
February 13 8
