HC Deb 07 March 1991 vol 187 cc261-2W
Mr. Robin Cook

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what are the dates and amounts of the latest capital valuation for each district health authority and national health service trust in England and Wales.

Mr. Dorrell

The latest capital valuation of land and buildings occupied by district health authorities in England and Wales was carried out as at 31 December 1989. A concurrent exercise was carried out in Scotland and Northern Ireland.

The totals of worth for existing use were:

£
England 23,256,449,000
Wales 1,089,041,000

These figures have been provided by the chief valuer, Inland Revenue, from centrally held returns. A summary by regions and districts is expected to be placed in the Library by 15 March 1991 and will include figures for Scotland.

At the date of this valuation (December 1989) there were no national health service trusts and property which would in due course be vested in NHSTs was not separately identified. It is included in the figures for district health authorities.
