HC Deb 06 March 1991 vol 187 c193W
Mr. Hardy

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment when he expects the toxic waste held at Wath upon Dearne, Rotherham which arrived in the summer of 1989 to be removed; and if he maintains contact with the appropriate agencies and Rotherham borough council in regard to the problem.

Mr. Baldry

There is no immediate prospect of the waste being removed by agreement, for the reasons we have explained in correspondence. The Department is no longer in contact with those previously involved in discusssions about the waste but we are, of course, prepared to consider any further initiatives that they and the local authorities might wish to offer.
