Whether the announcement that Mrs. Gillian Shephard, MP is responsible for all environmental matters at the Treasury indicates that, notwithstanding their answers to previous questions (HL Deb, 14th November 1988, col. 908; 19th December 1989, cols. 250–51; 26th July 1990, col. 1793), the Treasury is now specifically to engage in environmental analysis, as implied in its 1988 response to the Bruntland Report and by its signature of several OECD documents.
§ Lord HeskethThe Treasury continues to engage in environmental analysis. The Treasury does not have a specific division responsible for environmental analysis, but all divisions take environmental factors into account where appropriate.
