The current programme of bilateral assistance to Peru includes support to veterinary services in the south of the country, with the aim of increasing the income of livestock owners. Allocations to this project constitute approximately 25 per cent. of bilateral funds. There are no environmental projects in the current bilateral programme.

§ Mr. SheermanTo ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what emergency aid the United Kingdom Government are providing to Peru to combat the outbreak of cholera.
§ Mrs. ChalkerIn response to a request from the Peruvian Government, the Overseas Development Administration made an immediate cash contribution of US$20,000 through the Pan American Health Organisation which is co-ordinating the relief response.
In addition, we are providing US$140,000 as Britain's share of the European Community's emergency aid.
