HC Deb 26 June 1991 vol 193 c502W
Dr. Marek

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is his estimate of revenue forgone to the Treasury because of the sale of duty-free(a) alcoholic drinks, (b) tobacco products, (c) perfumery and (d) other taxable or dutiable products to travellers leaving the United Kingdom to (i) other European Community countries and (ii) elsewhere.

Mrs. Gillian Shephard

[holding answer 25 June 1991]: Reliable estimates cannot be provided because there is insufficient information on the amount of duty-free goods purchased by travellers leaving the United Kingdom.
