HC Deb 20 June 1991 vol 193 c266W
18. Mr. Andrew F. Bennett

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will make a statement about the number of agricultural livestock killed or injured by sheep worrying in the last 12 months for which figures or estimates are available; and what have been the financial implications for support to farmers.

Mr. Curry

Figures on livestock worrying are not held centrally, but it is estimated that up to 10,000 animals are killed or injured by dogs in England and Wales each year. The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food provides support through a continuing publicity campaign aimed at educating dog owners about the horrors of livestock worrying.
