HC Deb 19 June 1991 vol 193 cc192-3W
Mr. Martyn Jones

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment how many instances there have been of pollution of water courses and drinking water supplies by leachate from landfill waste sites in England, during the past five years, with details of the extent and source of pollution, and the names of the site owners responsible.

Mr. Baldry

The National Rivers Authority is responsible for monitoring water pollution. Detailed information of the nature requested is not held centrally, but details obtained from the authority's monitoring programme are entered in the public registers kept at each of its regional offices.
