Mr. Simon Hughes

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what responsibilities his Department has for(a) conservation, (b) transport and (c) the welfare of imported wild birds.

Mrs. Rumbold

In addition, scientific work concerned with conservation, the development of veterinary techniques and the prevention and treatment of disease is conducted under the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986.
