§ Mrs. RumboldThe Home Office has responsibility for general legislation relating to the welfare of domestic, captive and performing animals and to pet shops. In addition, scientific work concerned with conservation, the development of veterinary techniques and the prevention and treatment of disease is conducted under the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986.
