To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list the percentage of glass recovered as a percentage of consumption in (i) the United Kingdom and (ii) each of the other European Community countries.

I understand from the British Glass Manufacturers Confederation that the provisional figures for 1990 are:

1 Excludes Northern Ireland from which glass is sent to the Republic of Ireland for reprocessing.
