§ 34. Mr. SkinnerTo ask the Attorney-General if he will make a statement on the work of the Serious Fraud Office.
§ The Attorney-GeneralSince its inception the Serious Fraud Office has brought 54 cases involving 123 defendants to trial, 85 of whom—over two thirds—were convicted. In 1990–91 the average duration between acceptance of a case for investigation by SFO and its committal or transfer to the Crown court was 11.8 months. I believe that we are making good progress in reducing the time taken to deal with such cases.
