HC Deb 17 June 1991 vol 193 c32W
Mr. Dalyell

to ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what medical aid has been given to combat typhoid, cholera, hepatitis and water-borne diseases in southern Iraq and Kuwait.

The United Nations agencies and the Red Cross and Red Crescent have begun health programmes in Iraq as well as in neighbouring countries. Britain has contributed US$16 million to the UN appeal for the region launched last month and £2.5 million to the International Committee of the Red Cross.
