HC Deb 14 June 1991 vol 192 c704W
Mr. Ron Davies

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (1) what animals it is permissible to graze on set-aside land; and whether such animals may be sold for slaughter for human consumption;

(2) if he will make a statement on the grazing of horses on set-aside land.

Mr. Curry

The grazed fallow option of the set-aside scheme allows for agricultural animals, defined as cattle, sheep, goats, deer and horses, to be grazed on set-aside land, subject to certain conditions. Agricultural animals can be grazed under the non-agricultural use option, provided they do not form part of an agricultural production process.
