§ Mr. MacleanThere are reports from some member states of the illegal use of certain hormonal growth-promoting substances which are banned throughout the Community. In the United Kingdom, there are no bans on any other pharmaceutical products for use in agriculture and aquaculture. Decisions on whether they should be licensed or not are based on an assessment of the scientific criteria of safety, quality and efficacy laid down in the Medicines Act 1968.

§ Mr. MacleanThe information requested is set out in the table. This is based on information circulated by the EC Commission in November 1990 to provide an approximate estimate of the fees payable in each member state. The pounds sterling rates have been converted from ecus at the rate prevailing on 30 November 1990.
