To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what is the current level of unemployment in Northern Ireland; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Needham

At 9 May 1991, the latest date for which information is available, there were 97,951 unemployed claimants in Northern Ireland, representing 13.5 per cent. of the work force.
