HC Deb 13 June 1991 vol 192 c657W
Mr. Ron Davies

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what observations he has received from the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons concerning the use of strychnine as a poison for the control of foxes; and if he will take steps to prohibit such use.

Mr. Hanley

No observations have been received from the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.

The Department of Agriculture is, however, currently reviewing the use of strychnine for fox control, with a view to a possible ban.
