HC Deb 12 June 1991 vol 192 c560W
Mr. Corbyn

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what discussions have been held with the Government of Turkey concerning the treatment of Kurdish people in Turkey.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

British Ministers and officials regularly raise human rights issues with the Turkish Government. As to Kurdish people in Turkey, we look to the Turkish Government, as to other Governments where substantial groups of Kurdish origin live, to respect the international treaties to which they are a party.

Mr. Corbyn

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what discussions have been held with the Kurdish Front of Iraq about the negotiations it is holding with the Government of Iraq.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

We remain in close contact with the Kurdish leadership and have the opportunity to discuss with them a range of subjects, including progress in their discussions with the central authorities in Baghdad, on a regular basis.
