HC Deb 10 June 1991 vol 192 c407W
Mr. Maclennan

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) what future arrangements are to be made for the accommodation of those young offenders and remand prisoners formerly held at Her Majesty's prison Pucklechurch and now located at Her Majesty's prison Gloucester and Her Majesty's prison Cardiff; and if he will make a statement;

(2) what representations he has received about the availability of resources at Her Majesty's prison Gloucester and Her Majesty's prison Cardiff to hold young offenders and remand prisoners.

Mrs. Rumbold

I am aware that there are a number of difficulties involved in accommodating young offenders from the Avon area in Gloucester and Cardiff prisons. These are being addressed in consultation with the area manager concerned and taking into account the current review of the whole prison estate. The future of Pucklechurch is part of that review and we hope to announce the results shortly.
