To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he has received any representations regarding the torture and imprisonment of three converts to Christianity in Egypt; and if he has made any recent representations to the Egyptian Government regarding them.

My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs has received many representations expressing concern about the plight of the three Christian detainees in Egypt. He raised the matter with the then Egyptian Foreign Minister when they met in Cairo on 1 May.
