Mr. Orme

To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many social worker posts remained unfilled in local authorities in England and Wales on the most recent date for which figures are available.

Estimates of the number of full-time vacancies among field workers will be included in the "Social Services Employment Survey", due to be published shortly by the Association of Directors of Social Services and the Local Government Management Board, a copy of which will be placed in the Library.
