HC Deb 06 June 1991 vol 192 c307W
Mr. Fearn

To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will increase the number of residential care places in Britain.

Mrs. Virginia Bottomley

Decisions about the amount of residential care provision required for people seeking public financial support must be based on the assessment by each social services authority of the needs of the population it serves.

Moves made under our community care policy towards increasing the amount and range of day and domiciliary services enable a greater proportion of people to remain in their own homes.
