§ 13. Mr. SkinnerTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will meet pensioner representatives to discuss free television licences for pensioners; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Peter LloydGiving free licences to all pensioners, including those who are well able to pay the fee, would cost £470 million a year, and would mean that everyone else would have to pay £116 for their colour licence. We have no plans to change the present arrangements and a meeting would serve no useful purpose.
