§ Mr. John PattenNational standards on the supervision of community service orders were introduced two years ago, on 1 April 1989. As intended, they have been effective in achieving tighter and more consistent management of this work by probation services. My Department is now circulating to probation services an analysis of the first year's operation of the standards.
