HC Deb 25 July 1991 vol 195 c931W
Mr. O'Neill

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what contribution he envisages British armed forces making to NATO's main defence forces.

Mr. Archie Hamilton

While the British Army's main contribution to the defence of Europe will be as part of the new multinational ACE Rapid Reaction Corps, 1st (UK) Armoured Division will also have deployment options with a German-led main defence force corps if it is available and required. The RN and RAF will be contributing to main defence forces; details of their assignment are still being discussed within NATO.
