HC Deb 25 July 1991 vol 195 c931W
Mr. O'Neill

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what changes he has made to his policy regarding logistical support as a result of(a) Operation Granby and (b) "Options for Change".

Mr. Archie Hamilton

We are considering the outcome of Operation Granby and the conclusions to be drawn from it in the logistics and other areas but it is too early to say what changes may result. Within "Options for Change" we have set ourselves the goal of making substantial savings in the support area commensurate with those in the front line. The Statement on the Defence Estimates published on 9 July contains a full statement of our plans. We have already announced some decisions affecting the Army logistic base and corps, naval support infrastructure and a number of RAF bases. More announcements will be made in due course.
