HL Deb 24 July 1991 vol 531 c62WA
Lord Kennet

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether in the light of public disquiet about their interpretation of their liability towards the soldiers whose legs were blown off in Canada, they will examine the desirability of requiring any commercial firm contracting for the use of Her Majesty's Forces comprehensively to insure those they are being permitted to employ.

The Earl of Arran

Whenever servicemen are providing assistance to commercial firms, the department considers carefully whether it would be appropriate to require the provision of insurance cover for the death or injury of personnel.
