HC Deb 24 July 1991 vol 195 cc624-5W
Mr. Wigley

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what is the total home renovation grant budget in each district and city council in Wales; and what proportion is met by the Welsh Office in each instance.

Mr. Nicholas Bennett

For 1991–92 no budgetary allocations apply or have been made by the Department for mandatory home renovation grants at the level of individual districts. At the all-Wales level £77 million has been earmarked for mandatory grants and grant-related assistance, including grants approved under the House Act 1985 prior to June 1990, further resources will be made available if necessary. A further £10 million has been made available for expenditure on discretionary grants and allocated as detailed in the table. Support is provided in major part by direct capital grant: the remainder is funded from borrowing sanctioned by credit approval.
