To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry (1) whether the Bank of Credit and Commerce International or any of its subsidiaries obtained interim authorisation to continue operating an investment or other business under the terms of the Financial Services Act 1986; whether such businesses were subsequently admitted to membership of any of the self-regulatory organisations; and if he will make a statement;

(2) whether the Bank of Credit and Commerce International or any of its subsidiaries were authorised to operate any investment or other business in the United Kingdom under the terms of the Financial Services Act 1986.

[holding answer 23 July 1991]: I understand that the Bank of Credit and Commerce SA applied for membership of IMRO under the FSA, but was never granted full membership.
