To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will give consideration to an immediate extension of borrowing limits for expenditure for those local authorities involved in losses through the BCCI closure.

Mr. Key

If a local authority makes an application to my Department for a direction to increase its aggregate credit limit, we will consider it.
