§ Mr. McLeishTo ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will list(a) the number of youth training places in his Department and (b) the number of places occupied in May for each of the years 1989, 1990 and the current year.
§ Mr. Lennox-BoydNeither the diplomatic wing nor the aid wing participates in the youth training scheme. But both Departments run regular work experience schemes. Twice a year, the FCO takes on about 10 schoolchildren for two weeks in London. The ODA takes about 40 schoolchildren and students altogether, annually, in London, East Kilbride and at its Scientific Executive Agency in Chatham.
