HC Deb 18 July 1991 vol 195 c233W
Mr. Whitney

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what plans there are for starting direct teaching of English in central Europe; and what the approximate start-up costs are estimated to be.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

Numerous private and independent English language teaching organisations are developing programmes in central Europe.

The British Council plans open a teaching centre in Hungary in 1992 and is evaluating the scope in Czechoslovakia. Start-up costs will depend on the need to adapt premises.
