HC Deb 17 July 1991 vol 195 c200W
33. Sir David Steel

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what recent discussions he has had with Scottish Homes.

Mr. Lang

I met the board of Scottish Homes on 1 July to discuss a range of strategic issues.

38. Mr. Sillars

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the most recent report he has received on the state of dampness in Scottish public sector housing and if he will make a statement.

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

The most recent information available is based on local authority returns to the Scottish Office Environment Department which indicate that 145,260 local authority houses were subject to dampness or both condensation and dampness as at 31 March 1990. The Government have made available housing revenue account—HRA—housing capital allocations in 1991–92 totalling £454.5 million. It is for local authorities to decide how to use these resources for investment in their own housing stock according to local priorities.
