HC Deb 17 July 1991 vol 195 cc199-200W
32. Mr. Bellingham

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what recent representations he has received from Scottish fishermen about the activities of the Northumberland drift net fishery.

Mr. Michael Forsyth

Since 1 January 1991 my right hon. Friend has received representations from the migratory fish committee of the Scottish Anglers National Association, the Atlantic Salmon Trust, the Association of Scottish District Salmon Fishery Boards and from one individual angler. These and other representations are being considered by Fisheries Ministers along with the scientific information collated for the purposes of the review which my right hon. Friends are required to carry out by section 39 of the Salmon Act 1986, on salmon net fishing from the Humber to the Ugie. A report will be presented to Parliament as soon as possible.
