To ask the Secretary of State for Health what percentage of patients awaiting operations in the Wessex regional health authority area wait for longer than one year; and if he will make a statement.

At September 1990, the latest date for which information is available on numbers awaiting operations, 23 per cent. of patients waiting for an operation in the Wessex region waited over a year.
