HL Deb 16 July 1991 vol 531 c9WA
Lord Ennals

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they intend to lift the import ban on diamorphine; and if so, for what reason.

The Minister of State, Home Office (Earl Ferrers)

An application has been made for judicial review of the refusal by my right honourable friend the Home Secretary to permit the importation from another member state of the European Communities of diamorphine, which is manufactured and freely available in the United Kingdom. A hearing has been set for 23rd October. I am unable to comment further pending the outcome of the court proceedings.
